Privacy Policy & Student Data Protection
1. Introduction & Corporate Stewardship
This Privacy Policy describes how Kinetic Inspiration LLC ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") handles student and user information across ContestMathPro™ (CoMP) ("Application"), our website, and associated customer support channels.
We believe that educational software should inspire curiosity and intellectual agency without sacrificing student privacy. Because Contest Math Pro is designed primarily for middle school students preparing for junior competitions (including the AMC 8®, AMC 10®, and MATHCOUNTS®), our data architecture complies strictly with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Apple's App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1.
2. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance
Under COPPA regulations, online services directed to children under 13 must provide clear disclosures regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
- No Personal Registration Required: Students can launch and use Contest Math Pro immediately without submitting their full name, home address, phone number, school name, or email address.
- Zero Behavioral Advertising: Contest Math Pro contains absolutely no third-party ad networks, tracking beacons, retargeting pixels, or behavioral marketing software.
- Zero Data Monetization: We never sell, rent, license, or trade student performance data, telemetry records, or personal information to data brokers or commercial third parties.
- Parental Consent & Account Control: Any optional in-app subscriptions (such as CoMP PRO) are authenticated and authorized directly through the parent's Apple ID using Apple StoreKit.
3. Information We Collect & Local-First Architecture
Contest Math Pro is engineered as a local-first native application. The vast majority of user data never leaves the user's iPad or iPhone:
- Problem Solving History & Scratchpad Strokes: Practice test answers, benchmark test completion times, digital chalkboard drawings, and Adventurer XP progression are saved securely in local device sandbox storage (and Apple iCloud if enabled by the user).
- Diagnostic Mistake Trap Telemetry: Root cause classifications (Concept Gaps, Calculation Slips, Misread Prompts, and Time Panic) are computed locally on device to power the student's personalized practice drills and 2-page Parent PDF Progress Reports.
- Technical Diagnostics & Crash Reports: If enabled via iOS system settings, anonymized crash logs and basic performance telemetry are received via Apple's standard developer diagnostics to resolve stability issues.
4. Socratic AI Coach (Mathimus™) Data Handling
When a student requests a Socratic hint or conceptual guidance from Mathimus™:
- The prompt transmitted to our backend contains only the mathematical problem context, selected question parameters, and intermediate mathematical steps.
- No Personal Identifying Information (PII): We do not transmit student names, account credentials, or location coordinates with AI hint queries.
- No Model Training on Student Submissions: Student queries and math steps are used solely for real-time hint generation. They are not stored, retained, or utilized to train foundational artificial intelligence models.
5. Apple StoreKit & Financial Information
All in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions (CoMP PRO Monthly Pass and Annual Competition Pass) are processed exclusively through Apple StoreKit and your Apple ID:
- Kinetic Inspiration LLC never collects, receives, processes, or stores your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank account details.
- Apple securely validates purchase receipts with our server using cryptographically signed StoreKit tokens to unlock PRO features.
- Subscription management, renewals, and cancellations are controlled entirely through the user's Apple ID in iOS Settings.
6. Apple App Privacy "Nutrition Label" Disclosures
In accordance with Apple App Store Review Guidelines, here is our transparent Apple App Privacy declaration:
| Data Category | Collected by CoMP? | Linked to User Identity? | Used for Tracking? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact Info (Name, Email, Phone) | No (Only if user voluntarily submits a support ticket) | No | No |
| Financial Info & Payment Details | No (Managed entirely by Apple StoreKit) | No | No |
| Location Data | No | No | No |
| User Content (Scratchpad drawings, notes) | Saved locally on device only | No | No |
| Identifiers (IDFA, Advertising ID) | No (Zero third-party trackers) | No | No |
| Diagnostics & Crash Data | Yes (Anonymized via Apple Diagnostics) | No | No |
7. Parental Rights & Data Deletion Requests
Parents and legal guardians have the absolute right to inspect, export, or permanently delete any telemetry associated with their child. Because data is stored locally in the application, deleting the app or resetting application data through CoMP > Settings > Reset History immediately purges all local problem history, scratchpad notes, and mistake bank records.
